고은사진미술관과 국립현대미술관 미술은행이 공동 주최하는 전시,
국립현대미술관 미술은행 소장품전 《겨울이 오면, 봄이 멀지 않으니》는 봄이 온다는 소식과 가장 움츠린 겨울의 그림자를 살핀다.
매일의 해가 뜨는 것과 나무가 계절에 따라 잎의 색을 바꾸는 것처럼, 끝내 마주한 자연의 원리에서 삶을 긍정할 수 있는 가능성을 발견한다.
불가피한 계절의 변화처럼 우리 개인과 한 해의 다사다난한 굴곡들은 자연히 불가피한 희망을 맞이할 것이다.
 
전시명 《겨울이 오면, 봄이 멀지 않으니》은 '절망 속 희망'의 상징으로,
낭만파 시인 퍼시 비시 셸리 Pery Bysshe Shelley의 시 「Ode to the West Wind」에서 마지막 구절을 인용하였다.
겨울과 봄으로 표현되는 파괴와 재생, 절망 속 희망의 메시지는 현재에도 유효하다.
혹독한 겨울이 지나면 생명이 발아하는 봄이 온다는 것을 안다.
전시는 다만 글자라는 기호를 잡아두어 작품으로 그 감각을 실재화한다.
절망 속 희망이라는 이중성의 작동은 매체의 한계와 구별을 두지 않는 작업관, 그리는 행위를 수행의 과정으로 여기며
명상과 동양 철학의 이해로 환원되는 시도, 감각과 관련된 듣고, 보고 , 기억하는 과정의 오류를 집어내는 작품들로 구체화된다. 

 

 

The exhibition if winter comes, can spring be far behind, jointly hosted by the Goeun Museum of Photography and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Art Bank, examines the news of spring's arrival and the deepest shadows of winter. Just sd the sun rises daily and trees change their leaves with the seasons, it discovers the possibility of affirning life within the principles of nature we ultimately encounter. Just as sessonal change is inevitable, the twists and turns of our individual lives and the tumultuous events of a year will naturally welcome the inevitable hope.

 

The exhibition title symbolize 'hope within despair', quoting the final line of the poem Ode to the West Wind by the Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. The message of destruction and rebirth, expressed through winter and spring, and hope within despair, remains relevant today. We know that after a harsh winter, spring arrives, bringing the sprouting of life. 

The exhibition captures this sensation as a tangible work by fixing the signifier of the word itself. The duality of hope withnin despair manifests through an approach that disregards the limitations and distinctions of media,  treats the act of drawing as a process of performance, and attempts to reduce it to meditation and an understanding of Eastern philosopy. It materializes in works that pinpoint the errors inherent in the sensory proccesses of hearing, seeing, and remembering.
