The trace left after a big loss cannot be easily replaced with something else. A painting is an active process and behavior of respecting the remembered emotions, thereby engraving them. This process is something that cannot be put into a concrete noun. So, I prefer to express it as 'something that coherently condenses internally, eventually firmly settling in its place.' This expression illustrates the ongoing live status of the memories. The depiction of 'something' is visualized by creating layers and textures, which withstand dynamics of ups and downs, left and right, and oppositions.
The term <Black Ice> is a symbolic expression to refer to the active process of depicting the memories. When temperature suddenly drops, the melted snow may freeze again, thereby creating a thin layer of ice. When the thin layer of ice covers the roads, the black asphalt roads ultimately look transparent, so it is difficult for one to be cognizant of the existence of the ice. This analogizes the energy flow in which the information is transmitted via senses rather than the events.
The auditory ritual among the various information that is being transmitted via the senses guarantees the continued existence of the remembered location or scene. Just as if a terminated sound reverberates its resonance, the auditory ritual visualizes such time as a reverberation.

큰 상실감이 남기고 간 흔적은 쉽게 다른 것으로 대체되지 않는다. 그림은 기억된 감정을 존중하며 새겨두는 적극적인 과정이며 행위이다. 이것은 뚜렷한 주어로 명명할 수 없는 상태이기에 "'비로소 안으로 응집하여 뭉친, 고스란한 그 무엇'이다."라고 표현함이 기억의 동적인 지속 상태를 대신해준다. '고스란한 그 무엇'의 투영은 현실로 바로 흡수되는 것보다 겹과 결을 형성하여 위로 아래로, 이쪽에서 저쪽으로 혹은 반대의 역학 상태를 견디며 시각화된다.
<흑빙(Black Ice)>은 기억의 투영 과정을 비유적으로 일컫는 말로, 기온이 갑작스럽게 내려갈 경우 녹았던 눈이 다시 얇은 빙판으로 얼어붙는 현상을 말한다. 얇은 얼음 막이 도로를 덮으면 검은색의 아스팔트가 투명하게 보이기 때문에 눈으로 식별이 어려운 상황을 나타낸다. 이는 사건 자체보다는 감각으로 전해지는 정보들로 에너지가 진행되는 비유이기도 하다.
감각으로 전해지는 정보들 가운데 소리에 대한 의식(ritual)은 기억된 장소 혹은 장면에 대한 지속성을 담보한다. 이는 음원이 진동을 그친 뒤에도 음이 계속 들리는 잔향처럼 그 시간을 가시화한다.
